Trip to Mount Abu, Rajasthan

We have been thinking to go for a weekend somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the Vadodara City. Finally my hubby and I decided to go to Mount Abu, Rajasthan for the weekend. We left for Mt. Abu by bus on 7th September, 2012 at around 9.30 p.m, and reached there at 6.00 a.m. We had already booked for a room at Hotel Polo View, but the manager said they have not received any confirmation of our booking. (Stupid travel guy). But we were lucky enough to get a room there.

Then we decided to have a nap for some time before going for a sight-seeing. So I put up alarm for 8:00 am. But we dozed off as soon as we lied down on bed. Thanks to aai's call at 8.15 ,we woke up. :D

We got ready to begin our day. We rented Activa (with a hope to keep things in the "dikki" of the vehicle, only to find out that it couldn't be closed :-/ ) and off we went for the tour.

We first went to a Shiv temple. There was a big shivling inside the temple. Such a fantastic idol. Then we proceeded for Dilwara Temple. But the temple opens at 12 and we had reached at 11.15 am so we decided to see the Pandava's Cave situated behind the Dilwara Temple. Very few people know about the Pandava's Cave. After clicking some pics, there was still some time left for the temple to open. Also we didn't have any food since morning except for an apple. So we went to a near-by dhaba and had a "big" aloo-paneer paratha and tea.

After a tummy full lunch, we went to the Dilwara Temple. It is well known for its extraordinary architecture and marvelous marble stone carvings.I loved the expression of a foreign tourist when he looked at the the work and his first reaction was like "WOW" !!

Then we proceeded to Guru Shikhar. Gurushikhar holds the honor of being not only the highest peak of Mount Abu but the whole of Aravali mountain range, Situated at a height of 1722 meters from the sea-level, Gurushikar provides a breathtaking panoramic view of Mount Abu town and green aravali range.
(Click here for more details on Mt. Abu sight seeing....)
It was such a mesmerising weather on the way to Guru Shikhar. Though we could not go till the top due to foggy atmosphere, it was a fabulous climate. We could feel the nature's beauty !!

Then we tried to go to the Achal Garh, but roads were not favorable for a bike ride. So we dropped the idea, anyways we were super satisfied by roaming around on bike in such a lovely atmosphere. So we then headed towards Trevor's Tank. Though we expected to see some crocodiles, we couldn't, but enjoyed the view and the weather, not to forget the photographs ;)

On the way back to hotel, we stopped by the Arbuda Devi temple. Our jeans were wet enough to stop us from climbing those steps, but our heart helped us to climb the stairs to worship goddess Arbuda :)

Then we came back to our room, decided to rest for sometime as it was already around 3 p.m.
We reaced hotel and ordered for Hot Coffee. :) Then had some rest and then in the evening, gave back our rented vehicle and headed for a walk around the market.  ( oh not to forget some calls for checking about our booking... aarrggghhh !! )

We then had Dosa, utappam and Mosambi juice for the dinner at Arbuda Restaurant, and then headed back to our room. Tired as we were, went straight to bed after watching tv till 11 :D

Our Day 2 began at 9.30 a.m, that too thanks to baba’s call, else we lazy bones wouldn't have woke up!!!! :D But still we were in bed till long time, warm blanket, tv, and just the two of us. What else is needed for a perfect day ;)

After some romancing time J , we had had brunch in our room itself. Later we went out at around 2.30 p.m near Nakki Lake. We had the most delicious softy ice-cream cone after a long time, clicked few pics, and headed back to the hotel for some rest.  Then in the evening, we checked-out at 6.30 p.m, kept our bags at the Shreenath Travels shop and went for our dinner.

Then finally, our day ended with Butter pav bhaji at a restaurant nearby the lake. The food and the softy ice cream in Abu was delicious. J

We had bus at 8.00 p.m and reached Vadodara at 4.30 a.m.

So in all, we had a fantastic, memorable trip after a long time! Except for the stupid Bus-booking person, it was a fabulous trip.

Anyways, a pinch of salt is always needed for a yummy desert J
